1. I heard we’re losing MTV Canada and MTV2? When is this
happening?
MTV Canada will be rebranded to Razer and MTV2 to PunchMuch as of
June 30th, 2005.
2. Why is this happening?
As a result of CHUM acquiring MTV Canada and MTV2 in its purchase
of Craig Media Inc. on December 1, 2004, that change of control gave
MTV Networks International the right to terminate their joint venture
and licensing agreements with CHUM for these channels.
3. Is there any loss of service during this transition?
On June 30th, 2005 at 12:01 a.m. MTV Canada and MTV2 will be rebranded
as Razer and PunchMuch and there will be no service disruption.
4. What does this mean for the programs?
These rebranded channels will continue to reflect their respective
youth culture and music programming license conditions. The programs
will be both homegrown and international. Interactivity between subscribers
and the services is a key element.
5. Tell me about “Razer”.
Razer is an interactive youth entertainment and information channel
geared to youths 12-24. Razer connects to trends in entertainment,
TV, movies, music, videogames, fashion, technology, sports and leisure.
6. Tell me about “PunchMuch”.
PunchMuch is Canada’s first fully-automated all-request music
video channel that puts viewers in control, allowing them to request
videos via their wireless phones and the Internet.
7. Do I have to make any changes to my package to get Razer and/or
PunchMuch?
Razer and PunchMuch will continue to air in the same package and
on the same channel number as MTV and MTV2 respectively, so there
is no need to make any changes to your package to receive either
of these great services.
8. Is there any price change for these services?
Whether you subscribe to these channels as part of a theme pack
or individually, the same price applies.
